                                                  DISCLAIMER
If you are under 18 years of age, please leave this site at this time.  You don't want to explain to your parents why you have visited it.  If you believe that images of the Transgender community may be offensive, then you offend me and it is time for you to go to another web page.  In the event of the rare occasion that I decide to include a photo of a woman's upper torso sans clothing, rest assured that I consider it in good taste and should you disagree, your taste tastes bad.
          PLEASE GO AWAY, NOW!

Glamour, girls.  It's all about glamour.  Here is where I will share those feminine things that I find so special about being a woman in the 1950's and the 1960's.  From my private collection and on display in my home, here you'll find glamorous Pin-Up Queens like Bettie Page, vintage full-fashioned hosiery displays and advertising memorablia; selections from my collection of over 300 pairs of shoes and 4,000 pairs of vintage nylon stockings including some rare fetish and collector's items (as featured in Leg Show Magazine some years ago!); vintage corsets, girdles, lacy garter belts and bras; miniature collectible shoes; and of course, my favorite 1950's fashion trend -- leopard print clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories!  Which just happen to be coming back into style!  This is all for fun.  Here's hoping you enjoy it as much as I do!

Shoes, Shoes Shoes...what can I say...I just love them.  There's nothing better than a classic stiletto to exude class and style and attract the attention of at least 50% of the men of the world.  Walking in stilettos feels like nothing else I can describe.  There is a fluid, gliding movement, a swaying of the hips, an upright and proud posture and the knowledge that you will make a statement no matter where you are.  The girl who has mastered her heels has attitude and confidence that all can see.   Rest assured, stiletto heels will turn heads and make your legs look great.  Check out the Shoes and More Shoes page and use the link to see even more fabulous and sexy shoes at my other website including Polly of California mules and the always sexy and seductive Spring-o-lator!  There are even photos of glamourous pin-ups wearing these classic shoes from the 1950's and 1960's!

They call it "Good Girl Art", the pinup art style of the WW II and post-war era.  Most notable was the Vargas pin-up that appeared in Playboy magazine, but it was preceded by Vargas' and others work in Esquire Magazine and "pulp" magazines.  Some of the famous and collectible artists that I like include George Petty ("the Petty Girl"), Peter Driben, Fritz Willis and my favorite, Gil Elvgren.  Elvgren's art was featured on calendars, advertising blotters (pre-ballpoint pen days), playing cards and numerous other promotional items.  His style most often featured the fresh-faced girl-next-door in a situation that revealed her stocking tops, garter belt and high heels.  Good Girl Art flourished in the late 40's thru early 60's, and has been reprised recently by female pin-up artist Olivia who is now featured in Playboy.

First Time Visitor?

If you happen to have surfed or Googled your way here, I invite you to look through the site; after all there must have been a search word which brought you here that we share a common interest in!  But the "Dear Diary" section probably wouldn't be of any interest to you; for all I know it probably is of no interest to anyone else who visits here!  If you are a to-die-for fan of vintage shoes, especially Spring-o-lators and Polly of California mules, then go to Shoes and More Shoes and find the link to my other website devoted to those precious and sexy mules!  If you are someone I have met and invited to come and visit, just sit back and enjoy this time-capsule of the 1950's and 1960's from my perspective.

Style-Sighting!  There is nothing sexier than the famous "little black dress" and a pair of black stiletto pumps.  Are weddings held in Pittsburgh's downtown hotels providing eye-candy at the nightspots or competition for compliments and more?  We'll just have to see if this trend continues.
Rating: girls in little black dresses & F-M pumps *****

Style-Sighting!  Driving thru Pittsburgh's Night Club Mecca "The Strip District" while on my way to go dancing at Lucky's always has its share of hottie eye candy strolling the sidewalks.  But the best yet was the couple riding a motorcycle down Penn Avenue at 1am in the morning.  The young lady was wearing a flowing dress and stiletto high heels while stradling the back seat of the rice-burner. I tried to get their picture but they sped away!      Rating: You GO Girl! *****

Style-Sighting!  Continuing Kudo's to Macy's fabulous shoe departments at Ross Park, Robinson Town Center, Monroeville and Century III Mall.  I must plan for a day out and a visit to one of these stores for some Robyn quality time.

Style-Sighting!  A recent (2005) issue of Vogue has a section devoted to what's hot and what's not.  Now in the middle of 2007, it is still going strong, especially in shoes!  Animal prints are Hot!  And they are classic.  Are they just finding that out?  DUH!  As you may well know, I am not a slave to fashion.  But in this case, I guess I will just have to wear my animal print outfits and shoes for any and all seasons!

WHAT'S NEW
IN VINTAGE GLAMOUR

What's new is BIG NEWS!  I now have DSL and it's Good News and Bad News!  The bad news is that I will close this website by the end of December or January at the latest.  There may not be an immediate replacement for my Vintage Glamour website so I encourage all of my readers to bookmark the Yahoo 360 link below and also the Flickr! site link on the Dear Diary page.  I will be using those for the forseeable future while I first rebuild my internationally famous shoe website (it really is!) at a new Windstream URL.  Looks like I will have to learn HTML code...so nothing is going to happen overnight!

"Dear Diary" on this site and on my Yahoo 360 is updated weekly with photos and recollections from each weekend night out with the girls and guys here in Pittsburgh.  Stop by the page called "Shoes and More Shoes" that has a link to my website devoted to Spring-o-lators and Polly of California high heel mules!  And check out the sexy and glamorous pin-up photos there, too!  (those admirers with a foot fetish shouldn't miss the Satan in High Heels pix!)  And a special welcome to all who have stumbled onto this site via a search.  This site's purpose is to present a variety of topical items, including transgenderism, in good taste for both the uninitiated and those who share in this lifestyle.  Better to learn about us here than from that trash on daytime television!  I hope you enjoy your visit, but don't let your "I.T. Police" see you spending all day here! --Robyn

As this is a free site hosted by Earthlink, it tends to reach its maximum allowed visits well before the end of each month.  Make a note of my Yahoo 360 address below where I also post Dear Diary, in the event this site is down.  And hopefully it will be reset on the first day of the next month.

Do you love sexy shoes, both contemporary and vintage?  Check out the new "Shoes and More Shoes" section.  It really is a "link page" for my new website featuring Spring-o-lators and the very sexy shoes known as Polly of California glamour mules!  Look for the link...in pink!

Why didn't I think of this sooner!  Dear Diary will now have a listing of what's coming up in the 'Burgh including drag shows, guest DJ's and theatrical events that might be of interest.  Even if I can't go, maybe you can!

SPRING-O-LATORS

AN ICON OF 1950's - 1960's VINTAGE FASHION

Welcome to my webpage, a tribute to the glamour and style of a time gone by.  What should I start off with?  How about a fashion history lesson about something I adore...shoes!  Shown below is an exquisite pair of rhinestone studded Spring-o-lators high heeled mules from Herbert Levine.  The concept of an elastic sole, to help keep the shoe  securely on the foot of the wearer, was granted a patent in October of 1954 to a Mr. Maxwell Sachs.  Noted shoe designer Beth Levine, wife and business partner of shoe maker Herbert Levine, took that concept and made a woman's high heel mule-type shoe with it, possibly while the patent was still pending in 1953 or early 1954.  An elastic strap attached from the arch of the shoe to the footbed acted like a "spring" to keep the open mule firmly secured to a woman's nylon stockinged foot.  This sexy shoe became famous as a Hollywood starlet's most essential wardrobe accessory, not to mention the allure and desire it raised in men.

What defines a sexy shoe?  Beth Levine said it is "a shoe that indicates the personality of the wearer and her sensuousness.  It's what the shoe does to the instep, the arch.  The pitch of the heel and the feel of the materials is important."

I love to check out old TV shows and movies and look for the women wearing Spring-o-lators.  Here's a few:  In the original 1958 movie "The Fly", Patricia Owens wears them; Perry Mason's secretary played by Barbara Hale often wore them, and the cult movie "Satan in High Heels"  featured a trip to the shoe store to buy Spring-o-lators. (Great closeups, too!) It is said that Lady Bird Johnson, LBJ's wife, swore by them, but why not?  She was a Texas girl.  (Texas girls are a whole website unto themselves!)  You will also find a link to my new Spring-o-lators and High Heels website in the "Shoes and More Shoes" section.

Remember the early Barbie dolls from Mattel?  Those sexy high heeled mules Barbie exclusively wore back then were modeled on the famous "Spring-o-lators" mules!

SPECIAL NOTE

This is a free site hosted by Earthlink which has a limit on the number of pageviews each month.  It has been getting a lot of visits from searches for some of the mainstream topics mentioned here.  (Yes, blame it on my passion for Polly of California mules!)   Should you try to access this site without success later in the month, it may be for this reason.  In that event, it will be back up on or about the 1st of the month.  Save my Yahoo 360 address which will have Dear Diary posted if this site is  down. http://360.yahoo.com/candlelightromancewoman
