I LOVE SHOES MORE THAN CHOCOLATE!

"I don't know who invented the high heel, but all women owe him a lot.  Excuse the pun, but it was the high heel that gave a big lift to my career."  - Marilyn Monroe

You are invited to go to the link below for my other website devoted almost entirely to Polly of California Hollywood Glamour Mules and Spring-o-lators.  I cannot do justice to them with the limited amount of space on this site.  The photographic content on this page will be reduced so that my other pages may benefit.

THERE IS A SMALL BUT PASSIONATLEY DEVOTED FOLLOWING TO SPRING-O-LATORS - THE "TO-DIE-FOR" SHOE!

Finally, a page dedicated exclusively to my passion...sexy, seductive, sensuous, enticing, provacative, alluring, to-die-for, man-baiting shoes!  Look for a lot of very hot photos, text and links about my favorite subject.  There is even a link to an additional site of mine that is devoted to Spring-o-lators, Polly of California Mules and other "Bad Girl Shoes"!

"Cinderella Was a Sexpot." - Dr. Wm. A. Rossi, The Sex Life of the Foot and Shoe

In his book, Dr. Rossi states that the Cinderella fable is the best known folk tale ever written, with over 500 versions pre-dating the Brothers Grimm story.  These original stories were "never intended as a children's tale, but as a romance story for adults - with sexual overtones and undertones."  Ummm, Cinderella as soft porn?

CINDERELLA WOULD HAVE LOVED THESE SPRING-O-LATORS!

A VINTAGE ICON -- POLLY OF CALIFORNIA MULES

MY PINK LEOPARD PONY FUR POLLY OF CALIFORNIA MULES ARE TOTALLY GLAM-O-RAMA AND SLIGHTLY SLUTTY

I prefer vintage shoes from the late 1950's and early 1960's when the thinnest of stiletto heels first appeared.  Among my favorites and a shoe that is still manufactured is the "Polly of California" wood platform 4 1/2" stiletto mules.  Famous in the 1960's as pin-up shoes, I best remember them from the Las Vegas casinos where they found a loyal audience with cocktail waitresses for their incredible comfort even after long hours.  In the "Dukes of Hazard" movie, Jessica Simpson is wearing a pair of hard-to-find ankle-strap Polly's!  My collection of Polly's now numbers nine pair in various colors and two in leopard print.  Next to Spring-o-lators, these are my favorite shoe style.  They are also known as Hollywood Stilettos, Cha-cha Shoes, Genie Shoes and even "Peg Bundy's" (Married with Children) by some of my friends.  Designer Betsy Johnson offers these in several different styles in her line of shoes at $250 a pair!  Thankfully, Re-Mix Vintage Shoes has located the manufacturer of the base or unit of the shoe and now offers them thru their website www.remixvintageshoes.com

How many pairs of shoes do I own, you ask?  I'm not sure, as I stopped counting at 300+ pairs in my size, not to mention the hundreds of vintage collectible shoes that are for display or that I plan to be selling on eBay someday.  To some of you this may seem like I have a "shoe problem".  Well, you are correct,  I do have a shoe "problem"... I have a problem with where to keep them all!

POSSIBLY THE ULTIMATE "BAD GIRL" SHOE OF ALL TIME!

I have created a new website devoted to my favorite shoes, Spring-o-lators, Pollys and other "Bad Girl" shoes.  I'll have more space to post mostly photographs of shoes from my personal collection and shoes from across the web!  You are invited to stop by and take a look.  The link is right below!

ACCESSORIZING WITH SHOE CLIPS

Beautiful evening shoes are made for wearing with fancy shoe clips.  Vintage or new rhinestone clips and unique designs in gold, silver and other colors and material can make an old pair of shoes look like a totally new pair!  Match the style of clip with the amount of space available on the vamp, or front top, of the shoe.  Open toed mules look great with clips that run across the width of the vamp.  Pumps can be made very dressy with rhinestone clips that almost look like earrings or match your earrings!  There are even shoe clips that are seasonal, like Christmas wreaths or red-white-and-blue patriotic clips.   Shop for shoe clips at flea markets, old shoe stores and of course, on eBay, where you can find just about anything and everything!

The Wife Next Door -  A True 1960's Fashion Story

I just love the stiletto heeled shoe, probably because it was the dominant style of shoe during my youth and was part of my awakening sense of my transgendered emotions.  Later, I became aware of its sexual power both in and out of the bedroom.  The wife of our nextdoor neighbor was one such woman who seemed to understand that as well.  She would return home from work each day wearing 4" pumps that often were of a matching color to the business suit she was wearing.  But my most endearing memory of my neighbor Joan was the night she and her husband came over to our house.   It was the late summer of 1961 and she was dressed in a full skirted white print dress, with a crinoline petticoat making it full and wide, with white leather 4" spike heeled pumps and brown full-fashioned stockings with cuban heels.  I had never seen her wearing seamed stockings before and my teenage mind raced with images of her putting them on, attaching them to her garter belt, smoothing them and checking to make sure the seams were straight.  From that night on, I always hoped for a repeat performance but never again saw her wearing seamed stockings and often wondered why.  But she continued to wear her stilleto heels to work long after the style had been replaced in the late 1960's with the lower and thicker stacked heel look and I secretly thanked her for it.

POLLY OF CALIFORNIA GLAMOUR MULES

There is a style of open-toed mule set on a half-inch high platform of laminated wood with a half wood and half metal stiletto heel.  In the 1960's and 1970's they were commonly seen being worn by movie starlets for poolside pin-up photos, burlesque strippers, drag queens, Las Vegas cocktail waitresses and showgirls, as well as fashionable women in the summer or on cruises and at the beach.  Designer Betsy Johnson brought this style of shoe back into her line in the last few years at $175 - $200 - $200+ a pair.  They were worn by Jessica Simpson in the movie "Dukes of Hazard" and are now the most common websearch that lands here on my website.  There isn't really a name for them, although I have seen them called "Hollywood Stiletto's", "cha-cha shoes", "genie shoes" and "casino slides/mules".  Old Frederick's of Hollywood catalogs called them "glamor clogs".  What is most remarkable is that they are wonderfully, truely  comfortable high heels!  They were originally made by Polly of California but today, the real things can be found at www.remixvintageshoes.com. (Tell them I sent you there, please!)  Many Polly's have a suede-like leather insert in the sole of the shoe to prevent your foot from sliding forward or have a "dimpled-stiched sole" in lieu of the suede insert.  Others without these distinuishing features may have been manufactured in Italy and Japan and have a slightly lower platform and tend to run a half size smaller!  I've been fortunate to acquire more than ten pair in my size and have many others in my collection.  I have my heart set on a pair in leopard print pony-fur from Remix.

Sexy Memories:   A "M.I.L.F." in Polly of California Mules

A favorite youthful memory of mine is of the stunningly attractive mother of a 9th grade school mate of mine who I once saw wearing a pair of white leather Polly's, tan reinforced heel and toe stockings, an ankle bracelet, a tight skirt that revealed her garterbelt straps and a simple but elegant semi-sheer white blouse opened enough to reveal her lacy pushup bra.  She and her hubby were off for an evening "with friends".  It was the early 1960's and she got caught up in a wife swapping scandal in the small town I was living in.  It seemed that none of the men wanted to do any of the other women when she was in the room.  Several women got jealous and you know what happens then!  To me, she is unforgetable and the original "M.I.L.F."!

While I continue to add more to this page, let me add to the list of quality makers you can find on the internet if you desire to purchase high quality leather shoes.  Look for Brazilian Orchid on the net.  Their handcrafted shoes feature a true 4" stilleto heel that is right out of the 1960's and come in a variety of styles and colors.  Here is a picture of my first pair, a black and white "spectator" pump that is perfect for summer daytime or after-five cocktails.

SPECIAL NOTE

This is a free site hosted by Earthlink which has a limit on the number of pageviews each month.  It has been getting a lot of visits from searches for some of the mainstream topics mentioned here.  (Yes, blame it on my passion for Polly of California mules!)   Should you try to access this site without success later in the month, it may be for this reason.  In that event, it will be back up on or about the 1st of the month.  Save my Yahoo 360 address which will have Dear Diary posted if this site is  down. http://360.yahoo.com/candlelightromancewoman
